What I learned Traveling to Mexico by Myself!

18 Sep, 2023

Hey fellow travelers! If you're like me and have explored almost all 50 states, you might think you've got this whole travel thing down. But let me tell you, it wasn't until my solo trip to Mexico that I discovered a whole new world of travel wisdom! Today, I'm here to share some upbeat tips that will make your international escapades even more amazing.

Lesson One: Travel Light!

Sure, we all know that travel can be a bit pricey, but my goodness I didn't think that pricey! My bag was just 2 pounds over the weight limit, and I had the biggest line of antsy travelers behind me, quite literally peer pressuring me to just pay the fee. Lesson learned: pack smart, not heavy! On my next Mexican adventure, I managed to fit everything I needed into a carry-on, breezing past the grumpy traveler line and straight to TSA. Trust me, it's a game-changer and worth not having the negative attention on you!

Lesson Two: Customs Ready, Set, Go!

Going through customs can feel like a whirlwind of an experience! The line alone looks like a standby line for Space Mountain. It's almost dizzying how many times you wrap up and down a room. Fortunately, those agents move like a well-oiled machine and appreciate a smooth process. Have your passport and paperwork handy, and better yet, open to your photo. It's a small gesture that makes a big difference. Take a deep breath, stay organized, and you'll sail through like a pro and feel like you’re in the fast pass lane!

Lesson Three: Cash is the Key!

I'll admit, I'm not one to carry cash on me, but one day in particular of my trip I wish I did! When my upset stomach needed some over-the-counter
relief, the hotel didn't take my credit card. Thankfully, they accepted Apple Pay, saving the day! Lesson: always have some cash on hand for those 'just in case' moments. It's your safety net! It’s one of those “it is better to have and not need than to need and not have” things. Trust me!

Lesson Four: Embrace the Adventure with an Open Heart!

Traveling, even internationally, can sometimes be a tad stressful. But with the right preparation and a vacation state of mind, you'll breeze through it all! If I’ve learned anything from my mistakes it's that everything has a way of falling into place. So, kick back, savor the journey, and create the most incredible vacation memories. Besides, all good vacation stories start with a little hiccup!

Remember, every trip is a chance to learn, grow, and make unforgettable memories. So, pack light, keep that passport ready, and let the adventures begin! Safe travels, fellow wanderers!
