The Falloween Feature

05 Oct, 2022

Wizards and witches, wherever you dwell, to the warmest of the seasons, it's time to say  farewell. In honor of the cooling weather, changing leaves and the long-anticipated release of Hocus Pocus 2; I thought we could grab our wands and brooms and fly to Salem, Massachusetts. Salem is rich in history and old architect but through the years has become quite the Halloween mecca. Surrounded by beautiful fall foliage like no place else, the mystery of this quaint little town will draw you in one falling leaf after another. Through the entire month of October, Salem has a festive celebration called Haunted Happenings. Don’t fret over the word “haunted”, this celebration is anything but spooky. Here you’ll see the ‘Grand Parade’, walk through haunted houses, take a harbor cruise at sunset, listen to live music or even attend a costume ball! If you are looking for antiques and magical keepsakes from your trip, you’ll stumble upon the cutest and uniquely decorated shops. Fly into Remember Salem, a little shop straight from Diagon Alley. Don’t worry, muggles are welcome too! Leave your brooms at the door and enjoy a refreshing Butterbeer and head next door to Wynott’s Wands. Before you end your day, take a quick drive over to the beautiful Hammond Castle in Gloucester. This eccentric medieval style castle is home to some of the most alluring views of the Atlantic Ocean, you’ll forget you are only in Massachusetts.

We’ve all established already, that I am a proud foody. So, it would be wrong of me not to leave you with a few suggestions. Of course, being on the east coast, you are going to find some of the best seafood in the US. If you are looking for a cozy, oak paneled walls and wood burning fireplace then The Tavern at the Hawthorne Hotel is for you. This New England style tavern serves up some of the best seafood chowder. This is the perfect place to snuggle up close with a big bowl of soup during this chilly and spooky month. If you're looking for something a little more kid friendly, head over to The Ugly Mug Diner. Here you’ll find your typical diner style foods but also their iconic “Ain’t No Chicken and Waffles” that is frighteningly delicious.

Grab your little goblins and ghouls for some family fun at the Haunted Happenings!
You’re in for a dreadfully delightful time running around doing a bunch of hocus pocus!

Have the most spooktacular day!
